Restoration and Protection Promised
Becoming a mother was the greatest gift. The two and a half years my daughter Primilla has been on this earth has been a joy. To re see the world through a child’s eyes reawakens the child inside of you. Think of the person you love most in this world. You would do anything for them right? Now, times that by 1,000. That is how much God loves you.
In the lowest of lows and the loneliest of times, God has always pulled me through. When I passed through the waters, He was with me. When I passed through the rivers, they did not sweep me. When I walked through the fire, I did not get burned and the flames did not set me ablaze. I must admit, even though I have lived my life as a believer, I never truly walked with Him daily. Looking back, I was just too distracted, a teenager thinking I had the world figured out and quite honestly, I just did not know how. I do not discredit that time in my life because upon reflection I grew in ways God planned and intended. My freshmen year of college was probably the loneliest and lowest year of my life. I entered Samford University as a division 1 soccer player unprepared for what life was about to throw at me. My passion was soccer, I lived and breathed it, but I could not play. Not because I was injured, but because I could not pass a fitness test and that was mandatory to participate in games. It was embarrassing and humiliating. I only had a few friends; I was 9 hours away from home and could not travel to away games. I had never felt so broken and alone and ashamed. I had let myself down, my family down and my team down.
How do I keep close to God when the world seems hopeless, when I feel like life is collapsing in on me, when I feel like I am drowning and cannot come up for air? Sometimes in these moments you feel like God has abandoned or neglected you. You feel as though he is punishing you for some reason. But that is a lie from the enemy. The devil whispers these lies to lead you away from the light. When you are aware of this, you combat it with Gods promises and His faithful Word. To know His heart, you must lean into Him. You must speak to Jesus as if He is your best friend. Best friends tell each other their secrets. Don’t you want to know God’s secrets? He wants to draw you close and whisper His goodness. When you go about your day continue to step into His presence. No matter where you are God wants to be with you. He wants to hear from you! Whether it be your struggles or your praise, the more time you spend with Him, the more you hear from Him. He is ALWAYS with you.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isaiah 43:2 NIV)
